International Art and Innovation in Museums Seminar
The International Seminar “Art and Innovation in Museums” (AIMs-2026) is dedicated to the integration of digital technologies into museums and the transformation of exhibition spaces. The focus includes scenography, storytelling, and visitor experience, as well as practices related to interactive installations, multimedia, sound design, AR/VR, and machine learning.
Participants will explore real-world case studies and emerging formats in exhibition design. Speakers include authors of museum projects from St. Petersburg and experts from across Europe.
Key topics include:
multimedia and scenography in exhibition spaces,
VR/AR technologies,
sound design and interactivity,
the use of machine learning in museum installations,
storytelling technologies in museums.
Target audience:
museum professionals (directors, curators, educators, guides),
cultural studies and art history scholars,
IT specialists developing solutions for the museum sector,
students in relevant academic fields.
The working languages of the seminar are English and Russian.
Participation is possible either as an attendee or as a speaker. Following a presentation, authors may submit an article for publication with Scopus indexing.
The AIMs seminar is held within the framework of the international conference “Internet and Modern Society”, organized by ITMO University.
The founders and organizers of the seminar are a team of young media artists united under the name c2-command.
The Chair of the Program Committee is Anna Chizhik, Associate Professor at Saint Petersburg State University, PhD in Cultural Studies, and media artist.
The event is supported by the Applied Linguistics Association of Serbia and the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists.

Participation as an attendee is free of charge.
Early registration (April 1 – June 4, 2026) — 5,000 RUB.
Regular registration (June 5 – June 16, 2026) — 7,000 RUB.
PhD candidates and students are exempt from the registration fee provided that the following conditions are met:
The submitted paper contains no acknowledgements or indications of funding from grants, subsidies, or other targeted financial support.
The paper has no co-authors holding an academic degree or a position as a lecturer or research staff member.
If any of these conditions are not met, the standard registration fee applies.
